This is another unicorn.

I’ve mentioned previously that for the past few years, I’ve had a dedicated employee who finds some unique stuff for me traveling across India - who also distills some unique stuff for me.

So I pick up a lot of stuff we find along the way. Which begs the question - what to do when you have small batches of shavings and chips, but it’s not quite enough to run a single distillation? Combine them, of course!

This is a batch we produced back in January of 2022 from an amalgamation of shavings and chips from 7 different locations in 3 different countries - detailed above. Highly unique and probably not something we could replicate due to the uniqueness of the mix we put together.

Took me 2 years to gather the materials for this little project, and now that it’s got more than a year of aging on it - I think it’s ready to hit the streets.

This is the 5th Filippino oil I’ve offered.
2 New Gens (Adobo Leyte & Tandaya Leyte)
2 Traditionals (Kakawit & Manila)
And now - the first Co-Distillation 💪🏼
5 Unicorns 🦄 and counting …

THE SCENT

If we’re being honest - I’m having a little trouble pegging this one down. When you smell it - you’ll understand what I mean …

Smelling from the bottle - I think you’d be fooled into thinking it’s a Hindi. The light pastoral scent of Hay and light fermentation leading you to think it’s a pure Indian Oud oil.

Then comes the swipe. Wait. It’s not a Hindi. 🧐

It’s a potent oil. Can tell as much from the strong scent from the bottle. Very Royal smelling and feeling, if ever there were such a thing. It’s an enveloping scent - one that kinda makes my eyes want to roll back in my head. Less of a mind zinger and more of a rooting my feet a mile down in the ground kinda oil. Makes me feel like one of those Maoi Heads on Easter Island. Meditative. Zen-like. Buddha’s Breath kinda stuff.

Opens up Smelling like the Philippines, although I wouldn’t say it smells of any singular place. Smells more Expansive than that. That rich, Cumingiana floral scent that’s a little reminiscent of old Cambodi. There’s 1 King.

The oil continues to develop, and I can’t quite place if it smells like a Silani Gyrinops - or an Indian Agallocha. It smells like both. It smells like neither. Alternating and morphing from one to the other. The 2nd and 3rd Kings sitting for a conversation over tea.

If Hindis are the Kings of Agarwood - Sri Lankans are the Jewel in their Crown.

The floral tone of the Filippino Cumingiana combines nicely with the oceanic vibe from the Silani. That oceanic Silani tone melds beautifully into that deep, sweet Hay and Amber from the Hindi.

3 Kings. Check Mate.
