Jungle : Kota Marudu, Sabah - East Malaysia/Northern Borneo Island
Class : Wild, Old Red Clay/Soil
I have a few micro lots of superb Red Clay chips I'll be listing.
This particular batch is from Kota Marudu in Northern Sabah.
Very well-cleaned, with a scent reminiscent of Vietnamese Kynam.
Listing individual chips - so be sure to grab a few while available!
WHAT IS RED CLAY AGARWOOD ?
Clay chips are from dead and decayed trees. Soil chips are usually found near the surface. Clay chips are usually buried a little further down, sometimes several feet below the surface. The outer portions of wood begin to rot, leaving behind the resinated chips. Obviously, the more resinated - generally speaking - the better. And the older and more aged - usually has even more superior scent.
The Red, in this case, refers to the particular type of soil/clay. The Red Clay of Sabah has strong similarities to the Red Clay of Vietnam - and being buried in the clay imparts the agarwood over time with a distinctive flavor profile not found in other types of Agarwoods.
This batch, btw, is excellent. Reminiscent of Viet Red Clay Kynam.
Materials: Old Sabah Clay Agarwood,East Malaysian Agarwood,Northern Borneo Oud,Kota Marudu Agarwood,Sabah Agarwood,Kalimantan Agarwood,Indonesian Agarwood
