Jungle : Border of Imphal (India) and Burma/Myanmar
Class : Wild, 250+ Year Old Tree
Distillation : Traditional Deg and Bapkah , Copper , 1st 12-hour Pull

This oil is a unique historical relic that I acquired directly from the distillation family that produced it in 1949. I was lucky in that they still had some of the distillation details, which I included above.

As political borders change over the years ... and as Hunters don't always know exactly where they are, especially in decades before the internet and satellite smart phones - I'm not sure if this oil is actually from what we would consider today to be India - or if it was from then Burma/Myanmar. What I DO know is that it was distilled in the countryside of what is modern day way-out-there Imphal, and was harvested out towards what today would be the border somewhere between Imphal and Myanmar.

"Ateek" - for those wondering, our English word for Antique has it's roots in this word, which is the same word in both Arabic and Hebrew. It means ooooold ... a fitting moniker for this rare gem of an oil.

Regardless of the specific geo-location, it's not often we get an uncut family heirloom that is 72 years old and counting.

THE SCENT

First and foremost, I want to say that this oil smells ... ATEEK. It reeks of ancient awesomeness. Timeless old trees in primeval forests. Scents from another Time.

This oil hits a lotta sweet spots for me. Hints of Oud Smoke. Deeply Fruity hooka bar tobacco - dry, not sweet. Some hints of fruit leather, a waft of something we might call Hay - and ancient temple wood floors. Not to mention the absolutely addictive musky, animalic notes that’ll keep your nose glued to your arm.

I imagine this is what Gulf Arabs of the 50's smelled like, back when oils like this were maybe a little more commonplace. Today - maybe a relic of a gram or two are held as dear family heirlooms. Ateek Khaleeji Oud ... now available for the first time in over 70 years 🥰

—————

I haven’t made a big stink about it - but this year is actually the 10 Year Anniversary of founding Rising Phoenix.

We’ve come a long way since starting RPP in 2011. I really started selling products as they look today in 2014 just before Christmas (and plan to have an Anniversary for that landmark, as well) - but we were custom distilling and making products dating back to when we started in 2011. So in wanting to commemorate that, I am releasing a slew of what Rising Phoenix is best known for - cutting edge quality products not found elsewhere.

And that brings us to this very very special release - a special reserve batch of a historical relic from the late 40's, when the smoke of World War II was still fresh in the noses of peoples all around the world.

There’s nothing more Hallmark about Rising Phoenix than the BEST and most UNIQUE oils available aaaaaanywhere 😉💪🏼

1949 Imphal Ateek is the crown jewel of our 10 Year Anniversary. I'm happy to share this rare historical gem with you, and I hope a bottle of it is held dearly in your own Vault of Family Heirlooms for future generations to enjoy.

Thanks to 10 Years of your Patronage !
