Jungle : Hainan, China
Class : Grafted, Plantation
Distillation : CO2 - October, 2021

So I wanted to offer a plantation Kynam oil **not produced by some megalithic operation** ... which meant I’d have to produce one.

I also wanted to offer an inexpensive Kynam oil that could also serve as a juxtaposition against the WILD Hainan Kynam oil I was planning to produce : 2021 Bai Qinam (in the shop, now!).

Side by side, you’d be able to smell and see first hand the difference in complexity, but it would also be a study of Wild vs Plantation.

I have enough to offer some as a stand alone sale, BUT - I will also include an equivalent amount of White Tiger with every purchase of Bai Qinam so you can compare and contrast.

ABOUT THIS OIL

To be clear - this is a CO2 extraction

Also to be clear - the source material is as is seen in the listing photo, a particular type of Kynam known as “Gold Silk, Soft Oil.”

WHY CO2 ?

Simply put - yields. A water distillation would have a roughly 0.01% yield. So if we used a kg - we’d be lucky to get 8-10g of oil out of this premium sinking material used.

But if we CO2’d a kg of material - we’d have a rough 0.06-0.1% yield - meaning we’d get somewhere between 60-100g of oil. On this batch - we got a little more than 60g - making it much more affordable than if we had hydro-distilled it.

THE SCENT

Those familiar with CO2 extractions are familiar with a general lack of Top Notes - but a very true scent of raw material.

In this case - this principle held true.

**in the wild Bai Qinam ... hold your horses - Top Notes Intact !!

So - expect a true-to-source material scent of Hainan Kynam. Rich, pollen and honeycomb and deep resinous note with that lovely Kynam drydown.

I HIGHLY recommend grabbing a little of the Bai Qinam - so you’ll get both oils (and a FREE sample of White Tiger) to compare and contrast side-by-side.
